What's web-hosting?

Lots of people like the idea of a website of their own, but not everybody knows how to go about getting or running one. That's where we come in. The people at elddon.com can set up a website to your brief, put it on the internet and maintain it for you so it runs properly. To use an old-fashioned, 'corner-shop' analogy; it's a bit like us giving you a blank postcard, asking you to write your advert on it (with or without our help) and then us putting your advert in our shop window.

Generous web space

For many websites 1Gb is more than ample. To give you some idea, that's over 100,000 pages like this one or 1,000 high quality images - far more than most websites ever require.

Unrestricted bandwidth

Unlike most service providers we don't limit the bandwidth your site uses, just don't abuse our Fair Use Policy*.
So if your site becomes an overnight sensation (lucky you!) you won't find it's been suspended at the very moment you need it most. If you know in advance that the hit counter on your site is about to go ballistic please let us know but otherwise, relax and enjoy your success.

Full domain hosting

The domain name you've bought is the one we use. We don't rewrite your address to advertise ourselves, or use clumsy frame-forwarding; what you and the world sees on your website is the name you bought for it. We can also help with DNS (Domain Name Service) changes if you're not sure how to do this. Don't have a domain ('website') name yet? No problem, we can register one for you at minimal cost.

Active site maintenance

Aside from routine server maintenance we also regularly check the speed of your website and make sure everything on it is working as it should be. If we spot anything untoward that is integral to your website (such as dropped links etc), we'll let you know.

Detailed web analysis statistics

Page Hit Counters are great (and you can have one if you'd like) but if you're interested in who's using your website and exactly how they use it, you'll need detailed web statistics. This helps you focus effort on the important areas of your website - very valuable for commercial customers. We provide these statistics as part of the standard commercial service and to other websites by individual arrangement.

Once you've joined us you'll have access to our email Help Service. We're here to assist with jargon-busting and technical hitches.

Like you, we watch the market - so we know we're fairly priced. We're not the cheapest and we're not the most expensive, but we want you to be confident you couldn't get better service for your money anywhere else. Let us know if you think you can.

We're easy to do business with

There really are no hidden catches; just a simple 'click-to-buy' using PayPal or credit card and you're away. Once payment is received we'll commission your webspace within five working days, usually less. If you need help with domain names let us know when you sign up, but remember it can take several days for a DNS record change to spread right across the the internet (it's a world-wide place after all.)

In common with all service providers we operate a Fair Use Policy. This doesn't mean we restrict your use of our services, but if we find your website is consuming more than it's fair share of resources to the detriment of others, we will talk to you about it and agree a contract that better suits your needs. No drama, just solutions.
